Training Services

Onus training and consultancy services are targeted at employers, staff and personnel across all sectors, agencies and businesses that are developing policies and initiatives to assist victims of domestic violence and challenge perpetrators of this violence. We do this by

Identifying the issues and problems

  • 'Training Needs Analysis’ is the first step in the training process which should start by addressing the requirements of the organisation, and identifying what needs to be done, when and how.
  • Onus will help to identify your needs and the possible solutions to address the situation.

Providing training to meet your requirements

  • We have pre designed courses ranging from Basic Domestic Violence Awareness to specialist programmes on older abuse.
  • We also have proven experience and ability to design effective and successful bespoke courses to suit your individual needs.
  • Our programmes are delivered by a team of highly qualified, skilled and experienced trainers.

Ensure training effectiveness

  • New courses are piloted and all courses evaluated to ensure learning outcomes are met.
  • A synopsis of the training will be provided together with attendance lists and evaluations to ensure essential workplace audit trails.

Client aftercare

  • We will provide appropriate refresher training encompassing organisational developments and legislative change.
  • We will ensure ONUS Training is at the front of sector developments keeping clients up to date through effective environmental scanning ensuring training requirements are met.

  • Every minute in the UK, the Police receive a call from the public for assistance for domestic violence. This leads to police receiving an estimated 1,300 calls each day or over 570,000 each year. (Stanko, 2000).

  • On average, two women are killed every week by a current or former male partner

  • One incident of domestic abuse is reported to the police every minute

  • British Crime Survey - an estimated 12.9 million incidents of domestic violence acts (that constituted non-sexual threats or force) against women and 2.5 million against men in England and Wales in the year preceding interview (Walby & Allen, 2004)

  • According to the British Crime Survey, only 40.2% of actual domestic violence crime is reported to the Police (Dodd et al, July 2004)
